fabricated verdure

Fabricated Verdure is constructed from shipping refuse gleaned from floral shops and a maple syrup bottling factory. I was immediately attracted to the properties of these materials, particularly the mesh, which is used to protect large flower buds in transit.

The piece references a fabricated external landscape that seems to be an increasingly possibility for future generations given the amount of waste we continue to produce. It recalls the beautiful, chaos of invasive kudzu. It also suggests the internal landscape of the body, full of vessels and tubes that wind and root- where loop and lumen abound.
